This Brass Poster Bed with mother-of-pearl inlay was manufactured in England in 1912. Most of such beds, that were exported to the Far East then, were used as part of the bride's wedding dowry by the fairly well-to-do overseas Chinese. This item on display was imported by H. Holskel & Co. Ltd of Singapore. It was part of the wedding dowry when Datin Khoo Lee Lee's aunt got married in the 1920s.
